Archeological finds and mefieval charters indicate that on the territory of today's Márkó several villages existed, one of which was the village of St. Mark. The destroyed and deserted villages recieved in the eighteenth century when Bishop Márton Padányi Bíró together with the papal advisor of Veszprém brought German setllers, who then founded and built Márkó.
For a long time it was a typical one-road village and some houses still preserve the form and traditional values of folk architecture. You can see the white chapel on the hill rising above the village from a long distance. Visit the restored water mill powered by Séd Brook.
