Jászdózsa

Jászdózsa is a village on the banks of the Tarna river in the Jász region of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county in central Hungary approximately 100km east of Budapest. <!-- and 15km north-east of the regional capital Jászberény. // don't know what is meant by "regional capital", but Jászberény is not the county seat, and even the county seat of JNSz is not a regional centre... -->

The village is on the Vámosgyörk&ndash;Újszász&ndash;Szolnok railway line.

History

Its name first appears in documents dating back to 1344.

Tourist sights

• Roman Catholic church on the main square, built in 1777, reconstructed until 1872.
• Old stone bridge across the Tarna river, built between 1811-13.
• Small local museum.
