Fossils
Sometimes referred to as the "Prehistoric Pompeii", Ipolytarnóc stores 20 million year old fossils. These include the teeth of 24 different species of sharks as well as the teeth of crocodiles and dolphins, a 46 m tall pine, more than 5,000 subtropical, exotic leaves and 2,000 animal footprints. This is the world's third richest footprint find site. The fossils can be viewed thanks to a volcanic catastrophe wich buried a whole tropical jungle under ash, thus preserving them.
