Füzér

Village with 618 residents in the northern part of Zemplén, near the Slovakian border. It is one of the earliest private fortresses in Hungary, originally built at the beginning of the 13th century. In 1389 it came to the possession of the palatine line of the Perényi family. After the defeat at Mohács, the crown was hidden here by Péter Perényi. The castle chapel, still making an imposing sight, was built in the 15th century is. In the mid-16th century palaces were reconstructed in renaissance style. The Castle Hill is a nature conservation area.
