Accessibility: Fót is located in the north of Pest county, 17km from Budapest. It is easily accessible by rail on the Budapest-Veresegyház Vác railway line and by Road 2 joining the settiement to M3 highway. Characteristics: Archeological findings in the area date back to the New Stone Age. The name of the settlement was first mentioned in a written document in 1074. According to tradilion while fighting against King Solomon Prince László had his torn trousers mended with a 'folt' (a patch). Fót became the estate of several noble families during its history the most prominent of which was the Károlyi family. In the 17th and 18th centuries Fót became uninhibited several times.

Sights: Károly Mansion (now a Children's Town), Presbyterian Church from 1752 Garay Mansion, 18th century press house, Church ruins from 13-14th century, St. Stephen Catholic Church, Autumn in Fót folk events, Somlyó fishing lake, vine hut from 1837 where Mihály Vörösmarty wrote the 'Poem of Fót'. lnfrastructure: Apartments with running water: 50%, gas: 4036 of 6391, sewage: 17% paved roads: most of the roads Economy: The villagers' original activity was farming. Most of the workforce (62%) commutes. Since 1989 the number of people in industry has decreased considerably. Entrepreneurs lilving the area are mostily involved in trade and service.
