A large village with 17,000 inhabitants, just a few km from Pest on M3 motorway. The Romantic Roman Catholic church was planned by Miklós Ybl and built by count István Károlyi in 1855. The neo-Classical mansion surrounded by a park of 53 ha, was extended according to plans by Miklós Ybl in the last century. András Fáy was one of the great representatives of the village in the reform era, his one-time press-house is currently used as a popular inn. Kálmán Németh sculptor, wood-carver and restorer also lived in Fót; his memorial house can be visited in the village.
