Bánd was inhabited as early as the Árpádian Age. During the Turkish invasion the village was deserted; life returned only in eighteenth century. German settlers arrived to the area bringing their traditions and thus adding colour to both the architecture and folklore of the region. Their typical German houses are still preserved and some of their traditions are still alive.
At Christmas, walk around and wish each house a merry Christmas. The ruins of Essegvár sombrely tower over the roof tops reminding us of the romantic Middle Ages. Climbing to the summit of the hill we catch sight of the stones of the former Calvary. The surrounding environemnt beckons the visitors for walks int the Séd Valley and the sorrounding woods.
