It is one of the three Matyó villages-Tard, Szentistván, Mezőkövesd.It is rich in folk-art traditions,folk-art costumes and songs.One of the most beautiful pieces of its folk-art is the carachteristic red and black coloured crosstiches embroidey.The regional houses preserve the inheritage of old iimes which are suitable places for organisig traditionkeeping programmes.

The village lies next to a nature conservation area. The southern part is similar to a plain area,but the northern part is surrounded by hills and mountains. It has rich flora and you can observe so9me very rare plants like needlegrass, and some birds like beeaeters among other protechted plants and animals.
