Eger is the second most visited town in Hungary with its 1000 years history. Eger has always played an important role in Hungary's history, from the foundation of the state by St Stephen in 1001. The most popular moment was the defense of the castle and the western part of the country against the Turk invasion in 1552. You can still find buildings from this era: the renovated castle, the mosque, and Turk bath. Eger is also a famous town of baroque architecture, and of the wine (most known is "Bulls Blood of Eger"). Our pension is situated in a quiet green part of the city, which is a good starting point to discover the town and the region.
